Iridian leverages our customized, energetic magnetron sputtering platforms to produce durable, environmentally stable coatings extending from the UV to the LWIR (~340 nm to 10 mm).  Additionally, we have a platform that can deposit films by evaporation for the LWIR filters operating in 10-15 mm region.

Iridian has several different configurations of coating platforms to address different needs in terms of thickness precision, surface area, uniformity, and rates, to address trade-offs between technical coating precision and commercial throughput. Some platforms can coat dozens, even hundreds of substrates, while others coat a single substrate at a time.  Our engineering teams will select the best and most economical platform for your technical needs along with budget and schedule.  We have optimized the deposition process monitoring and stabilization algorithms for several decades to achieve fast deposition with high yields and low cost. 

 

Where Iridian truly excels is in the various in-situ optical monitor capabilities that have been developed in-house for each coating platform and, as importantly, the algorithms developed to react to variation throughout the coating process, i.e., the automated corrections and re-optimization of the multilayer stack that are done to achieve the targeted end results.  These advanced algorithms have “real intelligence” imbedded in them, as opposed to “artificial intelligence”, or “AI”.  With the assistance of these algorithms, we can manufacture extremely complex filter solutions that typically have more than a hundred layers and are several tens, sometime more than a hundred, micrometers thick.   The resulting filters have exceptionally high transmittance levels and blocking, providing the highest signal with the lowest background for your application. Our deposition processes allow us to achieve precision wavelength control and uniform coatings, even for large format parts.
